Make sure that you can repair any damage before you buy, since the majority of second hand stores won't give refunds.

Online auctions have their own cautions, too. There are all sorts of styles in all sorts of price ranges. They're also in all kinds of condition. Remember that the seller is trying to represent their item as favorably as possible so don't be surprised if stains are darker than they were in the photo, the tears are larger, or the sizing has been inaccurately measured. Make sure you get a full disclosure, in detail, of any damage to the wedding dress before you buy.
